Donor Privacy Policy

When you make a donation, register for an event, sponsor a program, or otherwise support the Foundation, we may collect information such as:

 

– Your name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number;

– The amount, date, and method of your contribution;

– Information needed to process a payment or issue a donation receipt;

– Your communication preferences;

– Your employer’s name and matching-gift information, when applicable; and

– Information you choose to provide, such as a dedication, tribute, or request to remain anonymous.

 

Payment card and bank information submitted online is processed by our authorized payment service providers. The Foundation does not retain complete payment card or bank account numbers unless necessary and permitted for a specific transaction or recurring gift.

 

 

We may use donor information to:

 

– Process and acknowledge contributions;

– Provide receipts and other records;

– Communicate about your gift, our programs, events, campaigns, and impact;

– Administer recurring donations, sponsorships, matching gifts, or event registrations;

– Maintain accurate financial and donor records;

– Respond to questions or requests;

– Prevent fraud and protect the security of our systems; and

– Meet legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.

 

 

The Relentless Defender Foundation does not sell, rent, or trade donor names, contact information, giving history, or other personal information to outside organizations for their own marketing or fundraising purposes.

 

 

We may share limited donor information with trusted service providers that help us process donations, manage records, send communications, host our website, support events, or perform other services on our behalf. These providers may use the information only as needed to provide those services and are expected to protect it appropriately.

 

We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, audit, or government request; when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Foundation or others; or in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of the Foundation’s operations, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

 

 

We may recognize donors in event materials, annual reports, campaign pages, or other Foundation communications. We will honor requests to remain anonymous or to limit public recognition. Donation amounts will not be publicly disclosed without the donor’s permission, except when disclosure is required by law.

Donors may ask us to:

 

– Stop or limit fundraising communications;

– Change how often we contact them;

– Use only a preferred method of contact; or

– Update or correct their contact information.

 

Email recipients may also use the unsubscribe link included in our marketing messages. We may still send transaction-related communications, such as donation receipts or notices concerning a recurring gift.

 

 

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect donor information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. No system or method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to use safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we maintain.

 

We retain donor information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, maintain required financial and tax records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

 

 

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of donor information we maintain about you. We will consider and respond to requests in accordance with applicable law. Certain information may need to be retained for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other legal purposes.
